Miss World Singapore 2018 Finalists Unveiled
Miss World Philippines 2017 as Special Guest at Grand Coronation Night

Singapore, 10 September 2018 – Ten young ladies have made it to the final round of Singapore’s most prestigious national pageant – Miss World Singapore 2018! They are hail from different walks of life – entrepreneur, teacher, beautician and model among others. The finalists are Audrey Chen (27 years old), Kaavya Ganeshan (19 years old), Claudia Naomi (23 years old), Preeti Mandalia (19 years old), Kaitlyn Xu (25 years old), Vanessa Peh (24 years old), Rika Vanisha (21 years old), Vanessa Tiara (21 years old), Phaan Yi Lin (23 years old) and Shonalie Raha (24 years old). Among them, a finalist who grew up from single-parent family wanted to fight more support in term of financial and psychological issues for children from single-parent families. There is also a finalist who is primary school teacher who aims to use the platform to raise awareness of the need for education for the underprivileged children. Presented by Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX) and organised by Celebrity Group, Miss World Singapore is more than just a mainstream beauty pageant but seek to promote the empowerment of young women and inculcate good social value in the world today. This year with a new management team on board, Miss World Singapore 2018 will move to a new frontier. Dato Sri Sean Wong, a renowned award-winning social entrepreneur, in partnership with Arnold Vegafria, 2018 Outstanding Man of The Year Award (Philippines) recipient as well as famed business manager of boxing legend Senator Manny Pacquiao, have been appointed as the new licensee and National Director of Miss World Singapore 2018. Pride of Philippines, Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann who is also a TV host and model will be attending as special guest at the coronation night of Miss World Singapore 2018. The multitalented individual represented the Philippines in the Miss World 2017 pageant in Sanya, China and won the coveted Beauty With A Purpose Award.

The young ladies were adorned in beautiful evening gowns and ready-to-wear dresses sponsored by renowned ASEAN fashion designers from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Cambodia at the charity fashion show to raise awareness to the public to support the cause. The gala dinner managed to raise $4 million on that night itself. All the fund raises proceed to provide free Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultation and medication to the elderly and needy families in Singapore. The crowning of Miss World Singapore 2018 will take place on 14 September 2018 at Resorts World Theatre. The winner will walk away with prizes and representing Singapore at Miss World 2018 pageant to be held on 8 December 2018 in Sanya, China. The annual Miss World Finals aired live to approximately 180 countries yearly attracts more than 1 billion viewers and consistently ranks among the most watched live annual entertainment telecasts in the whole world.

Champions Beauty With A Purpose

Singapore, 11 September 2018 – Ten outstanding young ladies have made it to the final round of Singapore’s most prestigious national pageant – Miss World Singapore 2018! They hail from different walks of life – entrepreneur, teacher, actress, model and student among others. The finalists are Preeti Mandalia (19 years old), Kaavya Ganeshan (19 years old), Rika Vanisha (21 years old), Vanessa Tiara (21 years old), Phaan Yi Lin (23 years old), Claudia Naomi (23 years old), Vanessa Peh (24 years old), Shonalie Raha (24 years old), Kaitlyn Xu (25 years old) and Audrey Chen (27 years old). 

Amongst them, a finalist who grew up from a single-parent family hopes to champion for more support to aid children from single-parent families financially and to provide support to tackle psychological issues. Another finalist who is primary school teacher aims to use this platform to raise awareness of the need for education for underprivileged children.

The Inaugural Beauty With A Purpose Charity Gala was held last Sunday (1 September 2018) at Resorts World Sentosa Ballroom, organised by Sian Chay Medical Institution in collaboration with Miss World Singapore 2018, to raise funds for the elderly and needy families of Singapore. The event was graced by Guest of Honour Mr Melvin Yong, Member Of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC and special guests Julia Morley and Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle. The Miss World Singapore 2018 finalists were adorned in beautiful ready-to-wear dresses and evening gowns, sponsored by renowned ASEAN fashion designers from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Cambodia, during the Charity Gala’s fashion show, to raise awareness to the public in support of the cause. The team’s fundraising efforts made history, raising a total of $4 million in just one night. These donations were directed to the To’ Puan Dr. Tsao Sui Lan Memorial Endowment Fund which provides free Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultation and medication to the underprivileged families in Singapore. 

The crowning of Miss World Singapore 2018 will take place on 14 September 2018 at Resorts World Theatre. The winner will walk away with $10,000 cash and over $20,000 worth of products. She will also be representing Singapore at the prestigious Miss World 2018 Grand Final held in Sanya, China on 8 December 2018. BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE CHARITY GALA 2018

Singapore, 31 August 2018 – In collaboration with Miss World Singapore 2018, Sian Chay Medical Institution – a charity organization founded in 1901, with an Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status (HEF 0039G) registered with the Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH), is organising the Inaugural Beauty With A Purpose Charity Gala 2018, held at Resorts World Sentosa West 2 Ballroom on 2 September 2018, to fulfill the charity mission of providing free TCM consultation and medication to the elderly and needy families in Singapore. 

The Guest Of Honour for this event is Mr Melvin Yong, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC. Special overseas guests include Miss World Organization Founder Mrs Julia Morley, Executive Director of Miss World Organization Mr Steve Douglas, Miss World Philippines Franchise Owner Mr Arnold Vegafria and Miss World 2016 Miss Stephanie Del Valle.

The Beauty With A Purpose Charity Gala 2018 is the first fundraising event organised to support the To’ Puan Dr. Tsao Sui Lan Memorial Endowment Fund, which was launched by President Mdm Halimah Yacob, who is the Patron of Sian Chay Medical Institution, on 21 May 2018. 

The Memorial Endowment Fund aims to assist the hardship and welfare cases referred by the Members of Parliament during their weekly Meet-the-People Sessions (MPS) to Sian Chay Medical Institution for support. Those who need help are usually individuals who fall through the social safety net, thus requiring the support and assistance from the community. 

Sian Chay Medical Institution has taken the initiative to set up this Memorial Endowment Fund with the support of Dato’ Dr. Tan Hian-Tsin, Patron of Crocodile Foundation, to provide those in need with social assistance. Dato’ Dr. Tan Hian-Tsin has pledged to donate the private art collection of his beloved wife, the late To’ Puan Dr. Tsao Sui Lan, to Sian Chay Medical Institution to support the fundraising efforts for the Memorial Endowment Fund. In addition, Dato’ Dr. Tan Hian-Tsin generously donated $2 million to launch the Memorial Endowment Fund and is making a one-for-one dollar-matching of all donations received for the Beauty With A Purpose Charity Gala, with a cap of $2 million.

Taking inspiration from Mrs Julia Morley’s Beauty with A Purpose charity mission to help the underprivileged in various parts of the world, Organising Chairpersons Dato Sri Sean Wong, who is the official licensee of Miss World Singapore 2018, together with Datin Sri Adelyne Fung, wish to focus on this core mission of providing opportunities for all beauty queens to serve the community and impact the lives of others. 11 beautiful finalists of Miss World Singapore 2018 will be doing their part to support this meaningful cause by raising awareness to the public and participating in a fashion show during the charity gala. The ready-to-wear dresses and evening gowns are sponsored by renowned ASEAN fashion designers from Cambodia, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. 

The Organising Committee aims to raise $4 million for charity that evening by inviting all candidates who are competing at Miss World Singapore to join hands in preserving the legacy of Miss World Singapore.
